Veterans for America First (VFAF) Statement
Veterans for America First – Veterans for Trump was honored to be invited to speak today before the Republican Lieutenant Governors Association in Charleston to rally support for our Halo Act, with National President Robert Cornicelli serving as the speaker at the event.
This important legislation amends statewide obstruction laws by creating a 25-foot safety barrier around all first responder scenes. The Halo Act provides the right balance: civilians retain their constitutional right to record from a safe distance, while law enforcement and first responders are guaranteed a secure zone to perform their duties without interference or harassment.
Earlier this year, the Georgia Senate passed the Halo Act, and it is expected to pass both legislative chambers in the next session. This demonstrates growing bipartisan recognition of the need to protect those who put their lives on the line every day for our communities.
The origins of this initiative date back to 2019, when I first worked with my friend, Senator Mario Mattera, to advance the bill in New York. Unfortunately, New York Democrats rejected the effort, refusing to support legislation that protects law enforcement and first responders. That setback only strengthened my resolve to continue the fight for common-sense protections nationwide.
At VFAF, we stand firmly with the men and women in blue. No longer should first responders face intimidation or aggression from agitators while serving our communities. The Halo Act is a clear step forward in ensuring respect and safety for those who protect us all.
We extend our sincere gratitude to Lieutenant Governor Pamela Evette for her leadership and for inviting us to share this mission. Lt. Governor Evette exemplifies true public service—she does not use her position for personal gain but instead uses her platform to uplift and empower others.
