VFAF Appoints Lisa Acevedo, U.S. Navy Veteran and Women Veterans Advocate, as National Ambassador

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 27, 2026

OKLAHOMA — Veterans for America First (VFAF), also known as Veterans for Trump, is pleased to announce the appointment of United States Navy veteran Lisa Acevedo as a National Ambassador. Acevedo brings extensive experience in military service, veterans advocacy, legislative affairs, public policy, education and community leadership, with a particular commitment to supporting women veterans throughout Oklahoma.

Acevedo has dedicated much of her professional and personal life to public service, working to ensure that veterans, military families and underserved communities have access to the resources, recognition and representation they deserve. Her background combines nearly a decade of military service with more than a decade of experience in Oklahoma government, legislative affairs and community advocacy.

Born and raised in Tucson, Arizona, Acevedo enlisted in the United States Navy in February 2001. During nearly a decade of honorable service, she advanced to the rank of Information Systems Technician First Class (E-6), developing expertise in military communications, information systems, leadership and operational support.

Her naval assignments included service aboard the USS Bataan (LHD-5) and USS George Washington (CVN-73), as well as supporting the Navy's TACAMO strategic communications mission at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma.

Throughout her military career, Acevedo supported Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom, along with international maritime operations in the Caribbean and Latin America.

Her military decorations include two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, three Navy Good Conduct Medals and numerous additional honors recognizing her service. She also earned the Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist and Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist qualifications, reflecting her operational experience across multiple naval warfare communities.

Following her military service, Acevedo pursued higher education at the University of Central Oklahoma, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Master of Public Administration. She also became a member of Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society.

With more than a decade of public service in Oklahoma, Acevedo has developed extensive experience in legislative affairs, government relations, public policy development and community engagement. Her professional responsibilities have included working on legislative initiatives, navigating complex government processes and helping address policy matters affecting Oklahoma residents.

A central focus of Acevedo's public service has been her advocacy for women veterans.

As a Navy veteran herself, Acevedo understands the experiences and challenges faced by women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. She has worked to increase public awareness of women veterans' contributions, improve access to state and federal veterans benefits and resources, and strengthen community support networks.

Among her notable accomplishments is helping establish Oklahoma's Women Veterans license plate, an initiative designed to recognize the military service of women veterans while generating financial support for organizations serving that community.

Her advocacy has also included nonprofit leadership, mentorship and community outreach. Acevedo has served as an elected officer of a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting women veterans, helping provide opportunities for veterans to connect, share experiences and access assistance.

In February 2019, Acevedo was recognized as Veteran of the Week by the Oklahoma House of Representatives in acknowledgment of her military service and continued contributions to the community.

Beyond her work in government and veterans advocacy, Acevedo has contributed to civic education as an adjunct instructor at Rose State College, where she taught American Federal Government.

In this role, she encouraged students to better understand the legislative process, the responsibilities of elected officials and the importance of informed civic participation. Her teaching included opportunities for students to engage with public officials and develop a practical understanding of how government decisions affect their communities.

Acevedo has also been active in Republican women's leadership organizations throughout Oklahoma.

Her involvement includes Republican Women of Central Oklahoma, Edmond Republican Women and Capital City Republican Women, where she is a founding member. Through these organizations, she is also affiliated with the Oklahoma Federation of Republican Women.

In October 2025, Acevedo joined Oklahoma's First Ladies Class of 2025, an initiative established by the Oklahoma Federation of Republican Women to support Republican candidates seeking statewide office while promoting leadership development, political education and opportunities for women to become more involved in public service.

Her participation reflects her longstanding involvement in civic education, women's leadership and the political process.

Acevedo and her husband, also a United States Navy veteran, are the parents of two children. Having made Oklahoma their home since 2007, the family maintains strong ties to the state's military, veteran and civic communities.

Throughout her career, Acevedo has emphasized the importance of leadership, personal responsibility, public service and ensuring that the concerns of veterans and their families receive meaningful attention.

As a VFAF National Ambassador, Acevedo will bring her military background, legislative experience and established relationships within Oklahoma's veterans community to the organization's national network of veterans, first responders and civilian supporters.

Her appointment will further strengthen Veterans for America First's outreach to women veterans and military families while supporting the organization's broader efforts in veterans advocacy, civic education, community engagement and public policy discussions.

Acevedo's experience in both military service and state government provides a foundation for addressing issues affecting veterans, including access to benefits, recognition of military service, community resources and opportunities for continued civic participation.

Her appointment reflects Veterans for America First's ongoing efforts to bring together experienced military veterans, public servants and community leaders committed to supporting those who have served the nation.

For Acevedo, service did not end with her departure from the United States Navy. It continued through her work in government, education, veterans advocacy and community leadership.
