Veterans for Trump joins Gavin Wax, and the New York City Young Republicans, in officially condemning the removal of the civil war monument from Arlington National Cemetery said Stan Fitzgerald President Veterans for Trump.

The statement from Ohio’s JR Majewski ,on behalf of the national Veterans organization, has been released through the L-Strategies consulting firm pressroom.

The dismantling of the Confederate Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery is nothing short of a direct assault on American history. A history that serves as a bedrock for our individual liberties.

When we erase our country’s past, we rob ourselves of the wisdom in knowing those who forged our national identity, and the events that made America what it is today. Whether we like it or not, history must be preserved, both the good and less edifying for without history, we have no future.

The assertion that Confederate soldiers don’t deserve the same respect given to all American military veterans is a complete disregard of the post war efforts led by President Abraham Lincoln. Efforts rooted in national unity such as abolishing slavery, and rebuilding an America that embraces the concept of “malice toward none and charity for all.” – JR Majewski

Stan Fitzgerald , President of the organization added historical context :

The confederate monument has been standing in Arlington for over 100 years.  On June 7, 1903, the first Confederate Memorial Day ceremonies were held in Arlington’s Confederate section. President Theodore Roosevelt sent a floral arrangement, beginning a tradition continued by nearly every U.S. president. In 2009, President Barack Obama modified the tradition, sending two wreaths: one to the Confederate Memorial, the other to Washington, D.C.’s African American Civil War Memorial, in honor of U.S. Colored Troops.

On 7-23-93, on a recorded senate hearing aired on CSPAN, Joe Biden called the United Daughters Of The Confederacy “an organization made up of many fine people who continue to display the Confederate flag.”https://nypost.com/2020/06/16/joe-biden-once-called-female-confederacy-group-fine-people/
