Veterans for Trump help line up congressional support for maximum sentencing of cartel member who executed border agent.

5-26-23

At Veterans for Trump we want to thank the sitting members of congress who assisted standing with our Border Patrol agents against the cartels and seeing justice served.

On February 15, 2011, ICE/HSI Special Agents Victor Avila and Jaime Zapata were ambushed by 8 members of Los Zetas Cartel while on official assignment in Mexico. Special Agent Zapata tragically lost his life in the line of duty while Special Agent Avila survived multiple gunshots.

In 2019 the D.C. court of appeals dismissed the murder charge against the cartel members Docket 1:13-cr-00143-RCL USA v. QUEZADA PINA. Sentencing had been scheduled for May 22nd and 23rd 2023 where Victor Avila was asking for support by joining him in the courtroom to help ensure a life sentence would be imposed as it was no longer mandatory based on the appeals court ruling.

Veterans for Trump president Stan Fitzgerald reached out to congressional members Andrew Clyde , Lauren Boebert and Cory Mills all of whom were willing to help seek justice. Congressman Clyde coordinated with Rep Chip Roy who attended the sentencing at the courthouse where the judge did issue a life sentence.
