ATLANTA, GA — A New Chapter Begins as Devonta Sullivan Leads Shelter Restoration Efforts in Atlanta
Georgia State Chapter Website: https://georgiavfaf.org/
In the heart of Atlanta, former police officer and Veterans for America First (VFAF) Vet Force leader Devonta Sullivan is spearheading a powerful initiative to restore hope for struggling families. Witnessing the increasing impact of economic hardship and housing insecurity, Sullivan is leading the charge to revitalize a long-neglected shelter affiliated with Park Ave Baptist Church.
“This isn’t just about repairing walls,” Sullivan shared. “It’s about restoring dignity and giving people a fresh start.”
Through the VFAF Vet Force program, which mobilizes veterans, ex-law enforcement officers, and community members for hands-on service, Sullivan has assembled a coalition of volunteers dedicated to transforming the shelter into a safe haven. This grassroots effort has attracted local businesses, veterans, and Atlanta residents—united by the belief that every person deserves a roof over their head and a chance to rebuild.
Sullivan’s mission stems from personal experience. During his time in uniform, he witnessed the harsh realities of homelessness and the lack of community-based solutions. Today, he channels that insight into impactful service, showing that the commitment to serve doesn’t end when the badge comes off.
