Nick Andersen of the Trump Administration , Marine , and elected member of the Republican Party of Virginia signs on as VFAF Ambassador

Nick Andersen is an elected member of the Republican Party of Virginia (RPV)’s governing board, the State Central Committee. He is also a Vice Chairman for the Fairfax County Republican Committee, the largest Republican unit in Virginia, presently responsible for fundraising and formerly leading unit operations. He serves as a Republican Senate and House District Chair, a policy advisor for various Congressional campaigns, a Co-Host for the Suburban Virginia Republican Coalition’s Conservative Ivy Coalition and assisted in administering the RPV’s 2024 convention as a member of the Credentials Committee.

He is a a fundraiser for the Trump 47 Committee. In addition to ongoing campaign work he deployed as an election integrity observer for the 2020 election

In his professional career, he is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Invictus International Consulting – a recognized market leader in full-spectrum cyber solutions ensuring the security of our nation’s global defense and critical infrastructure. He concurrently serves as a Nonresident Senior Fellow with the Atlantic Council’s Cyber Statecraft Initiative and a Board Member for several nonprofit entities. Formerly, Andersen served as the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for Public Sector at Lumen Technologies with more than 450,000 route fiber miles serving customers in more than 60 countries

Andersen proudly served in the administration of President Donald Trump as the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary and performed the duties of the Assistant Secretary for Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response (CESER) at the U.S. Department of Energy. He was appointed to lead DOE’s national effort to secure U.S. energy infrastructure against all hazards, reduce impacts from disruptive events, and assist industry with restoration activities. He led all Department of Energy efforts to build resilience to cybersecurity threats and mitigate risks within the critical infrastructure community and championed new policy initiatives to safeguard the lifeline services that underpin our national security, economic successes, and the health and safety of the American public. CESER works closely with the electricity and oil and natural gas industries; other Federal agencies; State, Local, Tribal, and Territorial (SLTT) communities; and DOE’s national laboratories to advance national energy security and prepare for, respond to and recover from evolving threats to critical infrastructure

Before joining the Department of Energy, Nick served in the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) as the Federal Cybersecurity Lead and Senior Cybersecurity Advisor to the Federal Chief Information Officer, where he led the OMB Cyber Team and was responsible for governmentwide cybersecurity policy development and compliance of shared federal security services.

Andersen previously served as CISO for the State of Vermont, where he was appointed by Governor Phil Scott (R-VT) to protect citizen data, lead security compliance activities, reduce risk, and lead statewide security operations. He also led first-in-the-nation efforts to combat Chinese threats to the state’s supply chain by banning technology from companies such as Huawei, Hikvision, and ZTE.

Prior to this, Andersen was a senior executive and senior intelligence officer serving as the Chief Information Officer for Naval Intelligence and was the Chief of the Office of Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Systems and Technologies with the U.S. Coast Guard. He served on active duty as a U.S. Marine, managing intelligence mission systems in Iraq, Europe, and Africa. He has led cybersecurity and technology programs worldwide with several leading and emerging companies.

Andersen has earned a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology Management, a Master of Science in Information Security and Assurance, a Master of Science in Cybersecurity from Brown University, and an Executive Certificate in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School
