Born in Lumberton, North Carolina, Bernard “Berney” Flowers embarked on a journey of service early in life. After earning his bachelor’s degree from UNC Pembroke in 1987, he joined the U.S. Air Force that same year, beginning nearly 21 years of active duty. He later enhanced his credentials with a graduate degree from Golden Gate University and graduated from the U.S. Air Force War College in 2006

During his military tenure (1987–2008), Flowers served deployments in Iraq, Afghanistan, South Korea, and Ukraine. His roles evolved from mission-ready airman to strategic planner, culminating in high-level efforts to secure national interests—both abroad and at home.

After retiring from active service, Flowers became a vocal advocate for fellow veterans. As a national political director with Veterans for America First, he harnessed his military background to elevate veteran affairs and shape conservative policy discussions.
