VFAF Endorsement of Dr. Betsy McCaughey for Governor of Connecticut

Veterans for America First Endorses Dr. Betsy McCaughey for Governor of Connecticut

Hartford, Connecticut — March 25, 2026 — Veterans for America First (VFAF), the original 2015 Veterans for Trump grassroots coalition, proudly announces its official endorsement of Dr. Betsy McCaughey for Governor of Connecticut.

Dr. McCaughey is a nationally recognized constitutional scholar, public policy expert, and former Lieutenant Governor of New York who has spent her career standing up to government overreach and defending the rights of everyday Americans. Raised in Connecticut by a factory-worker father, she represents the values of hard work, independence, and constitutional integrity that resonate with veterans, homeowners, and taxpayers across the state.

“Betsy McCaughey is a proven fighter who understands what is at stake,” said Frederic Mulika, United States Air Force Veteran and National Operations Director for Veterans for America First. “She has taken on powerful political establishments before—and won. Connecticut needs that leadership now.”

Dr. McCaughey is running on a platform focused on restoring economic freedom, protecting homeowners, and reining in government overreach. Her campaign priorities include:

Eliminating the state income tax

Defending the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights

Protecting homeowners from government overreach

Advancing limited, accountable government

Taking a tough stance on crime

Ending Governor Ned Lamont’s housing policies impacting local communities

Pausing mandatory home reassessments

Implementing a 2% cap on property tax increases

Providing property tax relief so that nearly all seniors are exempt

She has made clear her mission is to “stop Hartford’s war on homeowners, get rid of Lefty Lamont’s Housing Law, halt soaring property taxes, and relieve almost all seniors of any property tax burden.”

Dr. McCaughey brings decades of experience to the race. She earned her Ph.D. in constitutional history from Columbia University with distinction and went on to serve as Lieutenant Governor of New York from 1994 to 1998. She first gained national prominence in 1993 after reviewing and exposing key provisions of the Clinton healthcare plan, shaping the national debate.

She is the author of the New York Times bestseller Beating Obamacare and several other influential works on healthcare policy and constitutional governance. In addition, she founded the Committee to Reduce Infection Deaths (RID), a nationwide initiative that has helped pass legislation in more than 34 states requiring public reporting of hospital infection rates.

A longtime New York Post columnist and national commentator, Dr. McCaughey has consistently advocated for policies aligned with the America First agenda, including economic growth, government accountability, and protection of constitutional freedoms.

“Veterans know what it means to serve and to fight for this country,” Mulika added. “Betsy McCaughey has spent her life fighting for the American people, and she will do the same for the citizens of Connecticut.”

Veterans for America First urges Connecticut voters to support Dr. Betsy McCaughey in her campaign for governor and to stand with a candidate committed to restoring freedom, lowering taxes, and putting citizens—not government—first.
